Questions worth asking before you book
If something isn’t covered here, just ask, I’d genuinely rather you knew exactly what you’re getting.
How many hours of coverage do we actually need?
For most weddings, 10 hours covers you from getting ready through to the first dance, which is enough for a proper highlight film. If your day has a lot going on either side of that, an evening arrival for example, we can just add hours rather than you overpaying for a package that doesn’t fit.
Will you be telling us where to stand and what to do?
No. That’s the whole point of how I work. I won’t be directing your ceremony, staging your first look, or pulling you away from your guests for shots. The only time I’ll ever ask anything of you is a couple of minutes for portraits, if you want them, and even that’s entirely optional.
Will our guests even notice you’re filming?
Most people forget I’m there within the first hour, which is exactly what I’m aiming for. Small kit, no big rigs, no shouting for attention. That’s also why the tech side matters so much, more cameras and better mics mean I don’t need to hover right next to you to catch everything.
What happens if it rains, or the drone can’t fly?
Yorkshire weather does what it wants, so I always have a plan that doesn’t depend on it. Drone shots are a lovely bonus when conditions allow, never a promise, and I’ll never hold up your day waiting for a gap in the clouds.
How long until we get our film back?
Standard delivery is around 3 months, and it can be longer in peak season. If you need something sooner for a specific reason, just ask, express editing with a two-week turnaround is available as an add-on.
Do you travel outside Yorkshire?
Regularly. Yorkshire is home and where most of my weddings happen, but I film across the UK too. Travel is free within 50 miles of York. Beyond that, I’ll quote it clearly up front, with no inflated day rates for being further afield.
Is it just you on the day, or a team?
It’s just me on the day, whichever package you choose. What changes between packages is the coverage and what you get at the end. Every wedding gets at least five cameras and six wireless mics, so the ceremony and speeches are covered from several angles without me being obtrusive. If you’d like an extra pair of hands, a second shooter is available as an add-on.
What do we actually get at the end of it?
A private online gallery with your films ready to download and share, in full quality. Your Everything also includes a premium wood display box, because some things deserve a shelf, not just a hard drive.
Can we choose the music in our film?
I’ll always suggest music that fits the tone of your day, but if there’s a song that means something to you, tell me and I’ll do my best to use it, rights permitting.
How do we actually book you?
Get in touch with your date and venue, and if I’m free we’ll have a proper chat about what makes sense for your day. Booking is secured with a deposit and a signed contract, and the rest is due before the wedding, no surprises.
