Ellie and Ian’s wedding at Sandburn Hall in early March was a day bursting with personality. From the moment I arrived, I knew it would be special. The relaxed morning, the unique ceremony, and the lively evening all contributed to an unforgettable experience. Sandburn Hall was perfectly set up for a spring wedding, with delightful styling that welcomed everyone right from the start.

Morning preparations in the York Suite
The morning prep took place in the lovely York Suite, just next door. This spacious area allowed the hair and makeup artists to work their magic without feeling cramped. Ellie and her bridal party brought an infectious energy into the space. It was relaxed, fun, and full of personality. These moments are always the best on film: the laughter, the little reactions, and the excitement building up to the ceremony.
Hair by Bridal Hair by Lauren and makeup by Beth Leigh Beauty gave everything a soft, polished finish that complemented the spring light streaming into Sandburn Hall.
Ian and his groomsmen made a striking impression from the start. As members of the RAF, their uniforms added a sense of occasion that was sharp, timeless, and full of meaning. These details gave the day a strong visual identity, perfectly setting the stage for what was to come.
A personal Sandburn Hall wedding ceremony
The ceremony was nothing short of spectacular. The talented Craig Sutcliffe played the piano at key moments, creating an enchanting atmosphere. The ceremony, led by the best man, felt completely tailored to Ellie and Ian. It struck a lovely balance between humour and emotion, keeping everyone engaged throughout.
The highlight was their personal vows: honest, emotional, and delivered in a way that felt completely natural. These moments define a wedding film, where everything slows down and becomes about just the two of them. The confetti moment was everything you want: full participation, lots of movement, and genuine reactions from everyone involved. It created one of the most visually striking parts of the day, adding a real sense of celebration as they stepped out as a married couple.
The RAF sword arch wedding exit
A first for me at Sandburn Hall was the sword arch, and wow, what a fantastic moment to capture! It felt fitting to capture this RAF tradition from the sky with my drone. One of the standout moments of the entire day.
With Ian’s RAF background, the groomsmen formed a traditional sword arch, creating a moment that felt both meaningful and visually powerful. It beautifully combined tradition and celebration, reflecting who they are as a couple.
Evening reception with a DJ and a sax player
As the evening began, the energy lifted perfectly. DJ James Alexander built the dancefloor and kept it full, while Amber Sax added that live element that transformed the atmosphere. This combination brought everything together, turning the evening into a proper celebration.
A wedding that was completely them
Ellie and Ian’s wedding never felt staged or overly structured. From the relaxed morning through to the RAF traditions and into the evening party, everything reflected who they are. That’s when a wedding film works best: when nothing is forced and everything happens naturally.
